Stores we look after

Teams that trusted us with their storefront

About us

The team that stays after the build is signed off

Most stores do not break. They drift. An app update changes a template, a campaign adds a script nobody removes, a theme goes two versions behind, and a year later the storefront is slower and harder to edit than the day it launched. A retainer is how that stops being your problem. You get a developer who already knows the store, a plan for what gets worked on each month, and a written record of every change made to it.

  • Shopify Partner
  • Retainers, not tickets in a queue
  • Core Web Vitals watched, not assumed

What a retainer covers

Six things that get done every month

A retainer is not an open-ended promise. It is a set of hours and a list of what those hours are spent on, agreed before it starts and reviewed with you each month.

Fixes and bug reports

The things that stop a customer finishing an order, handled first and in order of what they cost you.

  • Checkout, cart and product page faults
  • Layout breaking on a device or a browser
  • Forms, search and filters that stopped working

Theme and app updates

Updates applied on purpose, on a schedule, with your customisations kept intact.

  • Theme versions reviewed before they are applied
  • App updates tested on a preview theme first
  • App conflicts diagnosed rather than worked around

Speed and Core Web Vitals

Measured on your own storefront on mobile, not on a synthetic page nobody visits.

  • Scripts audited as they are added, not once a year
  • Images sized and served in modern formats
  • Regressions caught in the month they appear

Security and backups

The routine work that only ever matters on the day something goes wrong.

  • Theme and app permissions reviewed
  • Backups of theme code taken before every change
  • Staff access and API keys checked on a schedule

Content and campaign work

The store changes that a marketing calendar needs and a developer usually blocks.

  • Landing pages and campaign sections built
  • Collections, menus and merchandising rules updated
  • Seasonal templates prepared before the week they launch

Small improvements

The backlog that never justifies a project but adds up over a year.

  • Product page and cart changes tested against behaviour
  • Accessibility issues fixed as they are found
  • New sections added so the team can self-serve next time

Our Shopify support and maintenance services

Everything a live store needs once it is live

Most stores need two or three of these regularly and the rest occasionally. Which is which depends on how much of the storefront your team can already change without us.

Ongoing store maintenance

The monthly arrangement. A block of hours, a priority list you own, and a developer who does not have to relearn the store each time.

  • Priorities set with you at the start of each month
  • Work done on a preview theme and published on your say-so
  • A written log of every change, so nothing is a mystery later
  • Hours reported honestly, including what was not used

Why Enstacked

Six reasons stores stay on a retainer with us

The same developer, month after month

You are not raising a ticket into a pool. The person working on your store this month is the person who worked on it last month and knows why the theme is put together the way it is.

Unused hours are visible, not silently kept

Every month you get a report of what was worked on and how the hours were spent, including the ones that were not. A quiet month should look like a quiet month on the invoice conversation.

Nothing is published without your word

Work happens on a preview theme. You see it on your own storefront before it is live, and publishing is a decision you make, not one we make for you.

Every change is written down

A log of what changed, when, and why. It is what lets another developer pick the store up without reverse engineering it, and it is yours whether or not you stay with us.

We say when a fix is not worth doing

Some problems are the theme, some are an app, and some are not worth the hours. If the honest answer is to change the app rather than to keep patching around it, that is the answer you get.

The store stays yours

No proprietary layer, no lock-in, no agency-only tooling. The code is standard Shopify, the access is yours, and leaving costs you nothing but the notice period.

Industries we serve

Support shaped around how your catalogue trades

A store with two launches a year and one with a promotion every fortnight need different things from the same retainer. The plan starts from your calendar, not from a template.

How we work

Five steps, and the fifth one repeats every month

Nothing about a retainer should be a surprise. You know what is covered, who is doing it, and what it cost, before the invoice arrives.

  1. Store review

    What you actually have

We go through the theme, the apps, the templates in use and the current speed numbers, and write down what we find. You get that document whether or not you go ahead.

  2. Scope and response times

Agreed in writing before anything starts

What is inside the retainer, what is quoted separately, how many hours a month, and how fast we respond to each class of issue. All of it written down, so neither side is guessing later.

  3. Access and onboarding

    Set up once, properly

Staff accounts with the permissions we actually need, a preview theme to work on, a backup of the current theme, and one channel where requests go so nothing gets lost in an inbox.

  4. The monthly cycle

Priorities you set, work you approve

You set the priorities at the start of the month. Work happens on the preview theme, you see it on your own storefront, and it publishes when you say so. Urgent faults jump the queue by agreement, not by argument.

  5. Report and review

What was done, what it cost, what is next

At the end of each month you get the change log, the hours, the current speed numbers and a short list of what we think should be next. Then the cycle starts again.

Support plans

Three ways to keep a store looked after

Which one fits depends on how much changes on your storefront in a normal month. A store that ships one campaign a quarter and one that ships every fortnight are not the same problem.

Essential care

Custom / month

  • A small monthly block of hours
  • Fixes and fault reports handled first
  • Theme and app updates applied and tested
  • Backups before every change
  • Monthly change log and hours report
  • Response time agreed in the plan

Dedicated developer

Custom

  • A developer working only on your storefront
  • Priorities you set week by week
  • Direct access, no account manager in between
  • Roadmap work and support in the same pair of hands
  • Suits multi-store and Shopify Plus setups
  • Best when the backlog is bigger than a retainer

FAQs

What is actually included in a Shopify support retainer?

A monthly block of hours spent on fixes, theme and app updates, speed checks, security and backups, campaign and content work, and small improvements. What is in and what is quoted separately is agreed in writing before the retainer starts, so there is no argument about scope later.

How fast do you respond when something breaks?

Response times are agreed in your plan and written down, with faults that stop customers ordering ahead of everything else. We do not publish a single figure here, because the honest answer depends on the plan and we would rather commit to something specific with you than print a number on a page.

Do I have to have built the store with you?

No. Taking over a store somebody else built is normal, and the store review is the step that makes it work: we go through the theme, the apps and the templates first and write down what we find, so nothing gets discovered halfway through a fix.

What if I do not use all my hours in a month?

You get a report showing what was worked on and what was not used. How unused hours are treated, whether they roll over or lapse, is agreed in your plan rather than decided after the fact. A quiet month should be visible as a quiet month.

Will changes go live without me seeing them?

No. Work happens on a preview theme, you review it on your own storefront, and publishing is your decision. The only exception is an agreed emergency procedure for a fault that is actively costing you orders, and that procedure is written down too.

Do you handle problems caused by third-party apps?

Yes. Diagnosing app conflicts, cleaning out snippets left behind by removed apps, and replacing hard-coded embeds with app blocks are all normal retainer work. What we cannot do is fix code inside somebody else's app, so where the cause is the app itself we tell you that and help you decide whether to raise it with them or replace it.

Will the retainer keep my store fast?

It keeps it measured, which is the part most stores skip. Core Web Vitals are checked on mobile on your own pages, scripts are reviewed as they are added, and a regression is found in the month it appears rather than a year later. What no retainer can do is offset a stack of apps that each inject heavy scripts into every page, and we will tell you when that is what is happening.

What happens if I stop the retainer?

You keep everything. The code is standard Shopify, the access is yours, and the change log goes with you so another developer can pick the store up without reverse engineering it. There is no proprietary layer and no agency-only tooling to unpick.

Do you support Shopify Plus stores?

Yes, including multi-store setups, shared components across storefronts, B2B templates and the checkout surfaces the plan exposes. Enstacked is a Shopify Partner and works on Plus; it is not enrolled in the separate Plus Partner programme.
