Manage your plan
Upgrading, downgrading, yearly billing, and what appears on your Shopify invoice.
Everything happens on the Plan and billing page, and every change routes through Shopify's own confirmation screen.
Upgrading#
Choose monthly or yearly#
The billing cycle selector is at the top. Switch to yearly and each card crosses out what twelve monthly payments would cost, so you can see the saving in dollars rather than work out a percentage.
Press the plan's button#
You are taken to Shopify's subscription confirmation page, which also states that your first 7 days are free. Varn cannot charge you; only Shopify can, and only after you approve it there.
Approve#
You return to Varn with the new plan active immediately. Every feature it unlocks is available at once, including on your storefront on the next page load.
Downgrading and cancelling#
Press the downgrade action on the plan you want to move to, or cancel to return to Free.
Cancelling is prorated by Shopify, so you are not charged for time you did not use.
Nothing is deleted when you downgrade. Settings, assignments, photo maps and groups all remain. Features that need a higher plan simply stop rendering, and resume the moment you subscribe again.
Billing goes through Shopify#
Varn uses Shopify's own app billing. That means:
- The charge appears on your regular Shopify invoice, not as a separate card charge.
- Varn never sees or stores your payment details.
- Shopify handles tax and currency.
- Uninstalling cancels the subscription automatically. There is nothing to cancel by hand and no post-uninstall charges.
Yearly billing#
Grow is $129/yr against $179.88 paid monthly, Advance is $339/yr against $479.88, and Premium is $599/yr against $839.88.
Switching between cycles is a plan change like any other, and goes through the same Shopify confirmation.
Development and trial stores#
On development stores and Shopify Plus sandboxes, charges run in Shopify's test mode. You can exercise the whole upgrade flow without money moving, which is the right way for an agency to demo the app.
If a plan change fails#
You get the actual error, kept on screen rather than flashing past. Common causes:
- The store's payment method needs updating in Shopify.
- The confirmation page was closed before approving.
- A transient Shopify error. Retry.
If a charge succeeded but Varn still shows the old plan, reload the app. Plan state is cached briefly for speed and refreshes immediately after any upgrade or cancel.
Refunds and questions#
Billing is handled by Shopify, so refunds go through Shopify's process. If something looks wrong on your invoice, email support@enstacked.com with your store URL and we will help you sort it out.
